Sitting by canal and in peach farm land, Smile House is the community centre for Peach village in Greater Shanghai. The geometry of the front lounge and hidden roof terrace are like peach slices, smiling. The design extensively explores the co-existence of old and new, the key functions and the additions.

The original farm storage is kept, new volume with modern mesh and silver cladding added on the top. The heart of the building is the triple height wedding hall, which is surrounded by flexible spaces for an exhibition of Peach culture, a working area for local start-ups and a library and tea house. Public and guided tour routes are offered by the scheme.

The scheme won the Creativity Award of the Shanghai Pudong Regeneration 2019 Competition.
